Robert is a leading development consultant in the off-grid renewable energy industry with more than 20 years’ experience. His specializations include developing energy service delivery models, public private partnerships, developing appropriate policy frameworks, promoting SMEs within the energy sector and energy access programme evaluations. Robert has worked with a host of development organisations, including the World Bank, UN, IFC, MCC, GIZ, USAID, DFID as well as government institutions, the private sector and NGOs. He has worked in South Africa, Lesotho, Swaziland, Mozambique, Namibia, Botswana, Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya, Rwanda as well as Thailand, Cambodia & the Philippines.
Robert holds an MSc degree in Environmental Change and Management from the Environmental Change Institute at Oxford University, as well as a Master of Social Science degree in Social Anthropology. He also serves on the Consumer Working Group of the Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves and is a member of the South African Monitoring & Evaluation Association (SAMEA).
